The Bernier/Eliades Gallery in Brussels is pleased to present the 8th solo exhibition of Richard Long, “Dry Walk”, featuring four historic and favorite Textworks and a new sculpture. The artist will be present during the opening. Richard Long is considered a pioneer of the Land Art movement and is one of the most prominent British artists.
This exhibition offers a detailed view of Long’s innovative art, which is rooted in walking in nature. He uses walking as a medium to explore ideas about space and time, scale and movement. His journeys across diverse landscapes—ranging from mountains and deserts to coasts, meadows, rivers, and snowy terrains—are integral to his work, life, and philosophy. Since 1967, Richard Long has been transforming his walks into compelling works of art that could be perceived as documentation of his journeys. His sculptures, photographs, and textworks are records of temporary installations and ephemeral passages through various landscapes, exploring the intimate link between mankind and the natural world. These works often include time and distance measurements, place names, and natural phenomena, creating a unique vocabulary that conveys original ideas and powerful narratives. His creations are contemporary yet primitive, conceptual yet natural, focusing on the completed artwork as well as the intricate process of their creation. Even when installed in more urban settings, such as museums, galleries, or domestic environments, the fruit of his labor retains a profound connection to its natural origins.
